Taking Care of your Inflatables

Do you have one, or one hundred inflatables, that you would like to keep in great condition that will last you many seasons? Well, this maintenance and care section will hopefully be the key to keeping your Airblown Inflatables lasting for a long time!

"Thinning"

For those of you reading this that may not know why your Airblown inflatable isn’t properly inflating anymore, it is likely due to an issue known as “thinning.” Thinning is something an inflatable’s fabric coating goes through after it has been exposed to high temperatures or moisture. This is why it is very important to keep your Airblown inflatables stored somewhere dry and cool during the off-seasons to ensure the coating won’t wear out and be long lasting. This is typically why you should refrain from purchasing any inflatables that may have been stored in an attic or garage, especially from states that tend to be hot all year such as Florida.

Identify "Thinning" and "Melting"

If you would like to identify a thin spot, it is typically just an area of the fabric where the lightbulb casing is visible and there is air leakage (do not confuse this for a seam.) An inflatable’s fabric coating may also be going through a process referred to as “melting.” Melting is a very strange process that seems to be the result of an inflatable which was also stored improperly, but can sometimes give the effect that it is in perfect condition, as the coating is still somewhat intact. However, once water comes in contact with coating in the melting process, it washes the coating right off making the inflatable inflate very poorly and worn out.

Methods of Identifying

A great way to tell if an inflatable is melting is by rubbing parts of fabric on an inflatable with force. If you rub and the coating feels sticky and leaves a thin spot in the place you rubbed, the coating is melting off. If you rub and no coating comes off, your inflatable’s fabric should be good to go. It is important to note that an inflatable, even brand new in the box, can be in the melting process, so make sure you know where an inflatable was stored before buying it.

How to Clean

If you’re Airblown inflatable is dirty after the season from use, the best way to clean it is by using a warm cloth and water. You can also use a magic eraser if that works better for you, either method should give noticeable results. We suggest refraining from using strong cleaning products, as it can damage the inflatables fabric coating. If an Airblown inflatable is still somewhat wet or damp from rain, please let it dry from the wind or sunshine before storing it to prevent damage to the fabric as well.

Conclusion

In short, the best way to keep your inflatables long lasting and in the best condition possible, is to store them somewhere cool and dry, allowing no moisture or heat exposure to enter the storage place. We hope this helps, and thanks for stopping by the website!
